Prabowo Welcomes Belarusian President at Merdeka Palace

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto welcomed the state visit of President of the Republic of Belarus Alexandr Lukashenko at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday. President Lukashenko’s motorcade entered the grounds of the Merdeka Palace at approximately 11.23 a.m. Western Indonesian Time. President Lukashenko was escorted by 17 motorcyclists and 80 mounted troops from the Cavalry Battalion of the Presidential Security Force (Paspampres). The arrival of President Lukashenko was greeted with an Enggang dance from East Kalimantan. President Prabowo personally welcomed President Lukashenko after he alighted from his vehicle. The two heads of state then shook hands and exchanged greetings. Afterwards, the national anthems of both countries were played. President Prabowo subsequently conducted an inspection of the honour guard alongside President Lukashenko. Following this, President Prabowo introduced several members of the Red and White Cabinet, namely Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Defence Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, and Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry Rosan Roeslani. Also present were Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. One of the agendas for President Lukashenko’s state visit is the launch of the ‘Road Map for Bilateral Cooperation 2026–2030’ as a framework for strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation. The road map will serve as a reference for enhancing cooperation in various fields, including the economy, agriculture, food security, culture, and science and technology. Belarus is an important partner for Indonesia in the Eurasian region and a key member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). Indonesia and the EAEU signed the Indonesia–EAEU Free Trade Agreement in December 2025.
