Prabowo Welcomes Belarus President, Discusses New Cooperation Roadmap

President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto received the President of the Republic of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday. Lukashenko and his delegation arrived at the Presidential Palace at around 11:23 WIB, with the motorcade escorted by motorcycle and mounted troops. Students were also seen lining the route, waving Indonesian and Belarusian flags. Prabowo greeted Lukashenko on the west side of the Merdeka Palace before both heads of state proceeded to the field for a state welcoming ceremony. During the ceremony, the national anthems of both countries were played, followed by a troop inspection. The two leaders then introduced their respective delegations. The Indonesian delegation accompanying Prabowo included Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Culture Minister Fadli Zon, Investment and Downstreaming Minister/CEO of Danantara Rosan Roeslani, and Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman. After the introductions, Prabowo invited Lukashenko to the credentials room for a photo session and the signing of the state guest book. Lukashenko then proceeded to a tete-a-tete meeting with Prabowo in his office, followed by a bilateral meeting between the two delegations. Both heads of state are scheduled to deliver a joint press statement. Foreign Minister Sugiono stated that Lukashenko’s visit was a reciprocal one following Prabowo’s trip to Belarus on 15 July. The meeting aims to continue discussions on potential bilateral cooperation, particularly as Belarus is a party to the Indonesia-Eurasian Economic Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. Sugiono noted that the relationship is entering a new, intensive phase. A Road Map for Bilateral Cooperation 2026-2030 will be launched to promote concrete collaboration, especially in food and energy security, which aligns with President Prabowo’s programmes. Sugiono added that cooperation on agricultural products and fertiliser raw materials will also be pursued between Belarus and Indonesia.
