Prabowo Welcomes Belarus President, Discusses New Cooperation Roadmap
President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, received a visit from the President of the Republic of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday (2/6/2026). The meeting aimed to discuss the strengthening of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Belarus.
Lukashenko and his delegation arrived at the Presidential Palace at approximately 11:23 WIB. The head of state’s motorcade was escorted by motorised and mounted troops, with students lined up to welcome the arrival while waving the Indonesian and Belarusian flags.
Prabow welcomed Lukashenko directly at the western side of the Merdeka Palace. The two heads of state then proceeded to the courtyard for a state welcoming ceremony.
During the ceremony, the two leaders listened to their respective national anthems, followed by an inspection of the troops. Subsequently, both heads of state introduced their respective delegations.
The Indonesian delegation accompanying Prabowo included the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Defence Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/CEO of Danantara Rosan Roeslani, and Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman.
Following the introductions, Prabowo escorted Lukashenko to the credentials room for a photo session and the signing of the state guest book. Lukashenko then proceeded to a private face-to-face meeting with Prabowo in the President’s office, followed by a bilateral meeting between the two delegations. It was noted that both heads of state would issue a joint press statement.
Signing a New Cooperation Roadmap
Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono stated that Lukashenko’s presence is a return visit following Prabowo’s visit to Belarus on 15 July. During this meeting, the two leaders will continue discussions regarding potential bilateral cooperation. Notably, Belarus is one of the countries that has ratified the Indonesia - Eurasian Economic Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (I-EAEU CEPA).
“This shows that our bilateral relations are entering, if I may say, a new intensive stage,” said Sugiono.
According to him, the meeting will also involve the launch of the Roadmap for Bilateral Cooperation 2026–2030, intended to drive concrete cooperation between the two nations. This focuses particularly on key sectors aligned with President Prabowo’s programmes, namely food and energy security.
“Today, a roadmap for bilateral relations across various sectors between Indonesia and Belarus will also be launched,” he explained. “Several agricultural products, and specifically fertiliser raw materials, will also be subject to cooperation between Belarus and Indonesia.”
