Prabowo Welcomed by PM Modi Upon Arrival at 18th BRICS Summit

President Prabowo Subianto was welcomed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India upon his arrival at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on Saturday, to attend the 18th BRICS Summit.

As observed from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube broadcast, President Prabowo arrived at approximately 14:30 local time, wearing a black suit, a blue tie, and a black songkok (kopiah).

Upon arrival, Prabowo was immediately greeted by Modi, who was waiting in the reception area. Prabowo greeted Modi with a traditional hand clasp, which was reciprocated by Modi with a smile.

The 18th BRICS Summit is taking place at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from 12-13 September 2026, under the chairmanship of India. The summit carries the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”.

President Prabowo’s presence at the 18th BRICS Summit as a full member is part of Indonesia’s efforts to strengthen its active role in multilateral cooperation. This participation also reflects Indonesia’s commitment to promoting a more balanced and inclusive global economic order that provides greater space for developing nations.

The meeting is also expected to encourage concrete steps in strengthening collaboration in the fields of food security, energy, development finance, and trade.

Previously, President Prabowo departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, on Friday (11/9) at 17:00 WIB for New Delhi.

On the flight to India, the President was accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Roeslani, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
