Prabowo: We Must Be Criticised, But Also Work Quickly for the People

President Prabowo Subianto stated that the government still requires criticism, but on the other hand, it also needs to work quickly for the people. He noted that the government and the House of Representatives (DPR) are now synergising well. “I am grateful that there is now synergistic cooperation between the government and the DPR. This does not mean there is no democracy; we must have democracy, we must be supervised, we must be criticised. But we must also work quickly for our people,” Prabowo said during the Submission of the 2027 State Budget Bill and Financial Note at the DPR in Jakarta on Friday (14/8). Prabowo stated that his administration will always work optimally for the prosperity of the Indonesian people. He cited the rescue of Indonesia’s natural resource wealth, which he claimed has not been felt by all Indonesians. Prabowo said that Indonesia’s natural wealth has so far only been enjoyed by a select few. As part of this effort, he is targeting Indonesia to begin operating a Strategic Mineral and Commodities Exchange on 1 January 2027. The exchange will be under the supervision of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and is intended to establish reference prices for Indonesia’s main export commodities. “Therefore, the government I lead will immediately operationalise the Strategic Mineral and Commodities Exchange under the supervision of the Financial Services Authority on 1 January 2027,” Prabowo said. He added that this policy is a follow-up stage to the single-door export policy that has been discussed by the government together with the OJK.
