Prabowo: We Must Be Cautious, Democracy Can Be Bought

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has stated that he has consistently fought for democracy in Indonesia since the past.

“We want democracy. Do not misunderstand; in the military, I supported democracy, I supported reform,” Prabowo said during the 28th anniversary of the PAN party in Jakarta on Friday night.

Nevertheless, Prabowo urged all parties to remain cautious because democracy can also be hijacked by those with large amounts of capital. He noted that there are ongoing efforts by such parties to hijack the democratic process.

“Brothers and sisters, but we must be careful that democracy can be hijacked, it can be bought,” he said.

Prabao stated that they attempt to hijack democracy by trying to bribe political figures in Indonesia.

“They maintain algorithms, use buzzers, and robots. Our children, our people, are being damaged as they try to influence them with slander; thankfully, our people are not foolish,” he added.
