Prabowo: We Have Worked Hard, Intensively, and Swiftly

President Prabowo Subianto has claimed that the government he leads has worked hard over the past nearly two years. Prabowo made the remarks before his ministers at a plenary cabinet session held at the State Palace on Monday, 20 July 2026.

Since being inaugurated in October 2024, President Prabowo has now held the reins of power for 21 months. “I believe not only you, my colleagues, but I myself, in these years as we approach two years, we have worked very hard, very intensively, and very quickly,” Prabowo said while delivering his address at the plenary cabinet session at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Monday, 20 July 2026.

Prabowo claimed that the intensity of work in his government meant his team was sometimes unaware of their own achievements. “Sometimes, because we work so hard and so intensively, we ourselves do not fully realise how much we have accomplished in the first two years of this government,” said the Chairman of the Gerindra Party.

Prabowo said that over the past 20 months, the Red-and-White Cabinet has faced various challenges. According to Prabowo, his government has had to confront a turbulent global situation alongside a range of domestic problems.

“Because we are facing very large problems. We are facing a world full of turmoil, and we are also facing bitter realities that we must acknowledge as our shared challenges,” he said.

Nevertheless, the former Defence Minister from President Joko Widodo’s era stressed that he did not wish to use these challenges as excuses to find fault with others or to draw comparisons with the previous administration.

Prabowo said his government was given a mandate by the people to resolve the nation’s problems. He said all of these challenges constitute work that the government must resolve, not avoid.

“As children of this nation, as elements of leadership—and all of us here are elements of leadership—we are political leaders, technocratic leaders, cultural leaders, community leaders—we have been given a mandate by the people to confront and resolve problems,” Prabowo said.

Therefore, to his ministers, Prabowo emphasised that they must not fear problems, difficulties, or shortcomings.
