Prabowo: We Have Worked Hard, Intensively, and Swiftly

President Prabowo Subianto has claimed that his administration has worked hard over the past nearly two years. Prabowo made the statement before his aides during a plenary cabinet session held at the State Palace today, Monday, 20 July 2026. Since being inaugurated in October 2024, President Prabowo has been running the wheels of power for 21 months. ‘I think not only you, but I myself, in these years approaching our two-year mark, we have worked very hard, very intensively, and very swiftly,’ Prabowo said when giving a briefing at the plenary cabinet session at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta. Prabowo claimed that the intensity of the work within his government has made his ranks unaware of their own successes. ‘Sometimes, because we work so hard and intensively, we ourselves do not fully realise how much we have achieved in these first two years of this administration,’ said the Chairman of the Gerindra Party. Prabowo stated that the Red and White Cabinet has faced various challenges over the past 20 months. He noted that his administration has had to deal with a turbulent global situation as well as various domestic issues. ‘Because we are facing very significant problems. We are facing a world full of upheaval, and we are also facing bitter realities that we must acknowledge as our common challenges,’ he said. Nevertheless, the former Minister of Defence under President Joko Widodo emphasised that he did not want to use these challenges as an excuse to find fault with others or to compare his administration with previous ones. Prabowo said his government was given a mandate by the people to solve the nation’s various problems. He stated that all these challenges are tasks the government must resolve, not avoid. ‘We, as children of the nation, as members of the leadership—and all of us here are members of the leadership—we are political leaders, technocratic leaders, cultural leaders, community leaders—we are given a mandate by the people to face and solve problems,’ Prabowo said. Therefore, he stressed to his aides that they must not be afraid of problems, difficulties, or shortcomings.
