Prabowo Warns Parties Funding Demonstrations

President Prabowo Subianto has claimed he knows the parties paying to hijack demonstrations and has issued a warning to them. He made the remarks during the peak event of the 17th National Farmers and Fishers Week (Penas) in Gorontalo on Wednesday (25/4/2026), which was attended by ministers, officials, and regional heads. In his speech, Prabowo touched on several issues, including the recent demonstrations in various regions. He stated that he knows the actors behind the protests. Prabowo said these parties do not like him and stressed that he knows who the corrupt individuals are. “Polite but still thieves, polite but corrupt. Pretending to be rich, pretending to have lots of money. When the money is stolen from the people. I have been an Indonesian for a long time, I know all of that, brothers and sisters. They don’t like Prabowo because Prabowo understands,” he said. Prabowo mentioned that these parties are also involved in paying for the recent demonstrations and warned them. “Brothers and sisters, be careful. I am giving a warning to those people. I know who pays for the demonstrations, I know that. But it’s okay, go ahead and demonstrate. Ask the demonstrators, they don’t understand. What do you want to demonstrate about? Hmm. We were paid Rp 200,000, like that, right. But it exists. I don’t understand,” he said. Prabowo expressed bewilderment that there are parties who do not support his government in competing with other nations. He hoped the government, the people, and all elements of the nation would be united, like a football team. “Brothers and sisters, if we feel, what is it, when we are in a match, right. We become supporters, we support one team. Come on, forward, forward, forward. Our country is competing with many countries. This nation should be united. If there are shortcomings, a friend is lacking, our team is playing, the play is not very good, we still support them. Later, once the match is finished, then we correct it,” he said. “Don’t, while they are bringing the ball, say they are wrong, stupid. While playing in the middle of the field, they get jeered. Our own friends, our own team. So it seems like we are not proud of what our own nation produces,” he added.
