Prabowo Warns of the Risk of National Fragmentation
President Prabowo Subianto has warned of a potential rift in national unity amid a global situation that is increasingly uncertain. The message was delivered during a meeting with a number of national figures at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, later relayed to the media by MPR Chairman Ahmad Muzani on Wednesday (4 March).
According to Muzani, Prabowo views current global dynamics as affecting not only the economy and politics but also potentially shaping domestic public attitudes.
“A special message from the President that we must all, as Indonesians, safeguard national unity, cohesion, and togetherness, because the present global situation makes people think in terms of their own viewpoints, which could damage our harmony, camaraderie, and solidarity as a nation and homeland,” Muzani said.
Prabowo emphasised that every policy is aimed at national interests and maintaining the integrity of the country.
One step cited by Muzani as part of maintaining solidarity was the President’s meeting with cross-generational national leaders on Tuesday night (3 March). The forum, he said, provided a space for exchanging views amid complex global challenges.
“The President received those views with pleasure, and they were used as input that informs decision-making,” he said.
Muzani noted that Prabowo keeps an open space for dialogue with various elements of the nation. This openness is important so strategic policies are not formed behind closed doors, but through broader consideration.”
“In principle, the President is very open to the views and thoughts of all community and national leaders,” he concluded.
“Supratman further explained that President Prabowo has always said political parties should resolve their own problems if they have issues.”
“Minister Nasaruddin Umar expressed the danger of exclusive nationalism which could lead to division. Conversely inclusive nationalism should be the foundation.”
“President Prabowo cited internal conflicts in Sudan, Libya, and Yemen.”
“Mandarin is considered a strategic competence at global level as international interaction increases and there is a need for multilingual labour force.”
“All segments of society must unite and maintain optimism in facing national and global challenges under President Prabowo Subianto.”
“Academics were urged to be more attentive and active in responding to global issues such as geopolitics, security, economy, energy, environment, and information technology.”
“In the face of global uncertainty due to geopolitical tensions, OJK is maintaining stability of the national financial services sector through stress tests.”
“The global situation is unsettled due to geopolitical conflicts; Ganjar and Mahfud will push the idea of strategic autonomy so that Indonesia is not dragged along.”
