President Prabowo Subianto has spoken about the major challenges facing the nation during the 80th anniversary ceremony of Bhayangkara Day at the Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) training centre in Cikeas, Bogor, on Wednesday. The Head of State stated that the world is facing significant challenges filled with conflict and tension, with threats to the nation becoming increasingly diverse due to technological developments, requiring law enforcement methods to adapt.

Prabowo highlighted several major threats, including narcotics, online gambling, human trafficking, cybercrime, terrorism, and corruption. He also specifically pointed to illegal mining and illegal plantations as serious issues. “The challenges are still great. Our people are still suffering from poverty, and this poverty is a direct result of corruption, smuggling, and illegal economic activities,” Prabowo said.

The President expressed his appreciation for the police force’s success in uncovering thousands of narcotics cases and, together with the Ministry of Communication and Digital, combating online gambling. He also praised the achievement of maintaining zero terrorism incidents over the past few years. “This is an achievement we must appreciate,” he stated. Nevertheless, he reminded all law enforcement officials not to become complacent, as the challenges ahead remain substantial.
