Prabowo Warns of Expanding Middle East War, Urges National Preparedness

President Prabowo Subianto has warned that the war in the Middle East could expand, urging the nation to prepare for the consequences. “The war in the Middle East, we must be mentally prepared that it will be long, it will expand, it will get worse,” Prabowo said in Batang, Central Java on Thursday, 30 July 2026, as broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat.

The Gerindra Party chairman said Indonesia should be grateful for its vast resources. He assessed that the country therefore has many solutions amidst a difficult geopolitical situation. According to Prabowo, the ongoing war endangers many countries and could become a real crisis. “The world crisis is not a minor crisis, it is a real world crisis, war is very dangerous and devastating, so we must be united,” he said.

The former defence minister expressed hope that Indonesia could act more effectively, efficiently, and meticulously in the face of the global crisis. “We will work very quickly to immediately deliver real results to the people, to drive our economy,” Prabowo stated.

In Batang, President Prabowo officiated a mass contract signing for 62,000 units of Subsidised Home Ownership Credit (KPR) and People’s Business Credit (KUR) for housing worth IDR 880 billion in the Puri Delta City Side Batang area. The programme is part of the government’s efforts to expand access to decent housing for low-income communities while strengthening national housing financing. “We are working hard with various programmes and constantly thinking of the best ways to multiply the number of houses that the people can enjoy,” Prabowo said.

During the occasion, Prabowo also held a dialogue via video conference with several debtor representatives from various regions who participated in the mass contract signing simultaneously. In his remarks, he expressed gratitude for the simultaneous implementation of the mass contract signing across various regions in Indonesia. He stated that the programme is part of the government’s commitment to expanding public access to home ownership. “We want all Indonesian citizens to be able to have a decent home,” Prabowo said.
