President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has warned corruptors to put an end to their corrupt practices.

Prabowo delivered the message while speaking at the commemoration of the 79th National Cooperative Day in Jakarta on Sunday (12 July).

“I warn once again, once more, for the umpteenth time, I have spoken about this for a long time. Hey you corruptors, come to your senses. Stop your practices. Stop. The people are not stupid. Stop!” Prabowo said from the podium.

Prabowo demanded that corruptors return the state wealth they had taken.

He said Indonesia is a forgiving nation, but justice must still be upheld.

“Return the people’s wealth, return it properly. We are a forgiving nation, but the people need justice,” he said.

Prabowo said the people’s wealth should be used for the welfare of the people.

In addition, it could be used to improve the welfare of teachers, doctors, nurses, the military (TNI), the police (Polri), and civil servants so that they do not engage in corruption.

“The people need good schools, teachers need good salaries. Doctors and nurses need good salaries. Soldiers and police need good salaries, so they do not extort the people. Civil servants need good salaries so they do not commit corruption,” he said.

On that occasion, Prabowo also said the government would discipline state-owned enterprises (BUMN), which he said have long been one of the sources of corrupt practices.

“We will put the BUMNs in order. All this time, these BUMNs have been a source of corruption,” Prabowo said.
