JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto believes that roof tiles made from processed plastic waste by the Environmentally and Educationally Aware Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST BLE) in Banyumas can be utilised for the roofing programme.

Prabowo stated that these recycled tiles are more effective and cost more affordable for use in the house repair programme.

“The tiles are quite effective. The tiles are cheap enough and this could possibly fit into our budget for house repair assistance,” said Prabowo after inspecting TPST BLE in Banyumas Regency, Central Java, on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

The Head of State also emphasised the importance of using healthier and more aesthetic materials, as well as reducing the use of corrugated iron that can rust in house construction.

According to him, replacing corrugated iron with tiles can beautify Indonesia’s regions.

“Rust will eventually be unhealthy for the inhabitants and the view is also not good. We will restore Indonesia to become a truly beautiful Indonesia. So tourism will be good and we will be comfortable living there,” Prabowo stated.

During this visit, Prabowo received explanations from the TPST BLE management and was shown various processed products such as plastic tiles, paving blocks, and plastic pellets.

“This is our plastic product, low-value plastic that doesn’t sell, turned into paving, this into tiles, throw this tile and it doesn’t break, sir, the price is around 7,000, 8,000. The paving one is 2,500,” said the management to Prabowo.

On this visit, Prabowo was accompanied by several of his ministers, including State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, Environment Minister Jumhur Hidayat, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Deputy Minister for Food Sector Coordinating Hanif Faisol Nurofiq.
