Prabowo wants to lead government based on facts

President Prabowo Subianto has affirmed his desire to lead the government based on facts and reality, during a meeting with around 150 researchers from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Thursday.

“Let us, I especially invite my team and all of you. If I lead, I like to lead with facts, facts, reality, with the actual situation,” Prabowo said.

According to the President, the courage to see conditions as they truly are is the first step towards solving the nation’s various problems. As an example, Prabowo mentioned Indonesia’s inability to qualify for the football World Cup finals despite being the world’s fourth most populous country. He said this condition must be accepted as a reality that needs evaluation.

“This is what we must introspect on, we must look at. There is no point in complaining, in my opinion,” he stated. Prabowo also reminded that problems should not be met with a search for scapegoats. He said it is more important to study the causes of a problem, observe best practices implemented by others, and then dare to take corrective steps.

On the same occasion, the President re-emphasised that mastering science and technology is the key to the nation’s progress. He therefore encouraged BRIN researchers to continue producing innovations that can serve as a basis for policy-making and solving various national issues. “So, a nation that masters science and technology, that nation will progress rapidly. The key is science and technology. This is a fact and reality,” said the President.
