President Prabowo Subianto is committed to improving hospitals across all regions of Indonesia, especially in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost areas (3T), to meet national referral standards. He expressed concern upon hearing of people dying from haemorrhaging due to the long distance to hospitals. “I am concerned, I have heard that there are those who die from haemorrhaging during childbirth because it takes a long time to reach the hospital, this must be overcome today,” said Prabowo at the inauguration of the KH Muhammad Thohir Krui Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Lampung on Wednesday (10/6/2026). His administration is committed to continuously improving health services. Within three years, Prabowo is targeting the construction or renovation of 400 hospitals in all districts across Indonesia to national referral standards. “In the next three years we will build, or where possible improve, renovate 350 to 400 hospitals in all districts in Indonesia,” he stated. “We will also improve and modernise 10,000 community health centres throughout Indonesia, this has been planned,” he continued. In addition, the government is currently running a national health service modernisation programme. The government has now begun distributing one thousand units of modern medical equipment to all regional hospitals in 514 regencies/cities. “It was reported earlier that, as an example, this hospital has begun to have modern equipment and this will continue to be improved,” he said.
