President Prabowo Subianto has assured that the Red and White Cabinet government under his leadership will not make Indonesia dependent on supplies of goods from abroad.

“We must be self-sufficient, we must not depend on supplies from outside, because if the situation suddenly changes for the worse we must still survive,” Prabowo said while delivering his State Address at the Annual Session of the MPR/DPR/DPD at the Parliament Building, Jakarta, Friday (14/8/2026).

He said that this dependence on imports must be addressed immediately because ongoing geopolitical conflicts and trade wars around the world are increasingly restricting the flow of goods.

Therefore, if Indonesia cannot be self-reliant, or stand on its own feet to meet domestic needs, he believes the country will face problems in the future.

“Because we know the world is facing geopolitical conflicts, trade wars, open warfare, in Europe, in the Middle East, all over the world experiencing supply chain disruptions and economic pressure. In circumstances like this, Indonesia must increasingly be able to stand on our own feet,” he asserted.
