Prabowo Vows to Continue Development Legacy of Predecessors

President Prabowo Subianto stated that Indonesia’s development is a long-term struggle carried out sustainably from one administration to the next, and he is committed to continuing the work of previous presidents. He made the remarks during a state address at the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) at the parliament complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday (14/8/2026). “As I have said many times, development is a long march, a long struggle,” Prabowo said. “What we are doing now is to improve upon the programmes that were pioneered.” He noted that many social protection programmes were initiated under the leadership of former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and former President Joko Widodo. “All that we are experiencing is the result of the leadership of Bung Karno, the leadership of Pak Harto, the leadership of Pak Habibie, the leadership of Gus Dur, the leadership of Ibu Megawati. Now we continue it,” Prabowo stated.
