Prabowo Vows No Protection for Corrupt Officials Who Harm the People
President Prabowo Subianto has declared that he will not protect officials who have been given trust and salaries by the people but instead make policies that harm the community. “We do not want to tolerate those who are trusted by the people, who are paid by the people, but implement policies that harm the people,” Prabowo said in a speech while leading a simultaneous national harvest with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) at 43 locations across Indonesia from Abdulrachman Saleh Air Force Base in Malang, East Java, on Friday (17/7). The President stated that all elements of government must work for the interests of the people. The Head of State emphasised that elected officials and those working in government, the bureaucracy, and state-owned enterprises must unite and work together to fight for the people’s welfare. In addition to harmful policies, the President also affirmed that the government will not tolerate the theft of public money. “Moreover, stealing the people’s money. We will not tolerate it. I will not tolerate it. I will not hesitate!” Prabowo asserted. He said all components of the nation must cooperate to ensure the country’s wealth is managed and utilised for the greatest benefit of the people and future generations. On the occasion, the President also invited all elements of the nation to continue strengthening unity and mutual cooperation in facing various national challenges. The Head of State also said Indonesia wants to maintain friendly relations with all countries, but at the same time must continue to strengthen national cohesiveness and unity. “We do not want to be hostile to anyone. I have said we want to be friends with all countries. But we are now aware that we must be united, all elements must be united,” he said. Prabowo added that the integrated harvest held simultaneously at 43 locations demonstrates that food security is not solely the concern of the Ministry of Agriculture, but has become a national movement involving all the nation’s strengths. He congratulated the organisers of the harvest and expressed appreciation for the spirit of unity, collaboration, and mutual cooperation from all components of the nation.
