Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - President Prabowo Subianto inspected the Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST) BLE in Banyumas Regency, Central Java, on Tuesday (28/4/2026). He admitted being impressed by the waste processing facility and is ready to provide assistance for its improvement and development.

Prabowo was accompanied by State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, Environment Minister Jumhur Hidayat, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Deputy Coordinating Minister for Food Sector Faisol Nurofiq.

Speaking to the media, he said the facility does not use overly advanced technology but yields efficient results. Therefore, he hopes this system can be emulated in other provinces, with 13 districts currently following the programme.

“I received a report from the Governor that in Central Java, about 13 (districts) have joined,” said Prabowo.

On that occasion, he stated that the central government will also help develop waste processing technology.

“So, the central government will promote this, and I will allocate direct assistance to develop and improve it to make it more effective,” said Prabowo.

Additionally, Prabowo committed to using the plastic waste products from this TPST for government house renovation programmes.

“The tiles are quite effective; they are said to be affordable, and this can fit into our budget for house renovation assistance,” said Prabowo. “The current house renovation budget is Rp 20 million per house, so for one house, we can allocate Rp 4-5 million,” he added.

Prabowo indeed wants no more houses to use rusty zinc roofs. This is because rusty zinc roofs lower the quality of life for poor households and are unsightly.

At the time, Prabowo also asked the local Regent about achieving zero waste or integrated waste management by 2028 to address the waste accumulation crisis in 2028. “The Regent’s promise is zero waste by 2028,” said Prabowo.
