President Prabowo Subianto visited the victims of a train collision who are being treated at RSUD Bekasi. The visit was to directly assess the condition of the victims.

This was conveyed by Cabinet Secretary Prasetyo Hadi through a voice recording shared with journalists on Tuesday (28/4/2026). Pras expressed condolences to the victims.

“Of course, first and foremost, we all convey our concern and deep condolences for the incident last night, the collision between the Argo Bromo train and the KRL in East Bekasi,” he said.

He explained that in the morning, Prabowo went to RSUD Bekasi to directly see the condition of the victims. The visit was carried out in between the President’s schedule before departing for out of town.

“And today, the President made time this morning to visit the victims at RSUD Bekasi before the President departs for out of town to carry out several working visit agendas,” he stated.

During his visit, Prabowo gave instructions for all treated victims to receive the best service. He also dialogued with hospital officials to directly hear about handling needs, including the availability of medical equipment.

In addition, Prabowo held a short meeting with the Minister of Transportation and the President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia to obtain an initial report on the accident. In that meeting, Prabowo ordered an investigation to be carried out immediately.

“He ordered several steps to be taken. An investigation must certainly be conducted. Then, he also requested considerations for anticipation so that events like this do not recur,” he said.

Furthermore, Pras stated, Prabowo also highlighted aspects of train level crossing safety. They were asked to handle around 1,800 at-grade crossings, including the option of building flyovers to minimise accident potential.

“We were asked to handle approximately 1,800 train crossings that must be guarded or made into something like flyovers to ensure that train intersection paths or level crossings are safe from the potential for accidents like the one that occurred last night in Bekasi,” he said.
