Prabowo Visits NTT Today to Review Earthquake Response and Aid for Residents
President Prabowo Subianto is continuing his working visit to East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) after activities in Bali. Prabowo is scheduled to review the earthquake response in the NTT region following the 7.7 magnitude tremor on 15 August.
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said Prabowo’s visit is to see and feel firsthand the condition of the community and to ensure disaster handling and the fulfilment of residents’ needs on the ground. The visit, he said, is also part of efforts to ensure coordination between the central government, regional governments, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the National Police, and all relevant elements in handling the impact of the earthquake on Flores Island, NTT.
“The President from the outset has ordered that emergency earthquake response and aid distribution be carried out quickly, in a targeted manner, and evenly across all disaster-affected areas,” Prasetyo said in a statement on Wednesday (26/8/2026).
He said health service support for affected communities is also being continuously strengthened through the deployment of various disaster response health facilities. Among them are the Indonesian Navy hospital ship KRI Soeharso-990, which has docked at Reo Port in Manggarai Regency, and the Ksatria Airlangga hospital ship, which is in Nangalirang Bay, East Manggarai Regency.
Prasetyo said field hospitals at the regional level have also been operationalised, namely Ruteng Regional General Hospital in Manggarai Regency and Aeramo Regional General Hospital in Nagekeo Regency.
Furthermore, Prasetyo stressed that the handling of the NTT earthquake disaster will not stop at the emergency response period. The government, he continued, will ensure the recovery process continues in stages through to reconstruction to rebuild infrastructure and community life.
“The government will continue to work so that the affected people of NTT do not feel they are walking alone in facing the disaster and can soon return to living their lives normally,” Prasetyo said.
