Prabowo Visits NTT, Leads Meeting on Earthquake Impact Response
President Prabowo Subianto visited the earthquake-affected areas of East Nusa Tenggara on Wednesday (26/8).
Based on a live broadcast from the Presidential Secretariat, Prabowo arrived shortly before 12.00. He appeared to arrive aboard the presidential helicopter.
Afterwards, Prabowo immediately boarded a Maung vehicle and approached the command post. He was greeted by a TNI soldier at the location.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya was seen accompanying Prabowo.
Prabowo visited NTT after a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck the Flores region on Saturday (15/8), or eleven days after the event.
State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the visit was also part of efforts to ensure coordination between the central government, regional governments, the TNI, the National Police, and all elements in handling the impact of the earthquake on Flores Island, NTT.
He said Prabowo had from the outset ordered that the emergency response to the earthquake and the distribution of aid be carried out quickly, in a targeted manner, and evenly across all disaster-affected areas.
“Through the Presidential Secretariat, for example, from 15 to 24 August 2026, logistical aid and equipment have been distributed, including 204.22 tonnes of basic foodstuffs, 27.71 tonnes of ready-to-eat meals, 10.29 tonnes of mineral water, as well as medicines, tents, blankets, mattresses, communications equipment, and two sets of field hospitals,” he said.
In addition, he said health service support for affected communities was also being continuously strengthened through the deployment of various disaster-response health facilities.
Pras cited as an example that the Indonesian Navy’s KRI Soeharso-990 has docked at Reo Port in Manggarai Regency and will be used as a field hospital.
“Meanwhile, the Ksatria Airlangga Hospital Ship is already in Nangalirang Bay, East Manggarai Regency, to support public health services,” he said.
Pras also said the handling of the NTT earthquake disaster would not stop at the emergency response period alone. He said the government would ensure the recovery process continues in stages.
“Not only through the rehabilitation of affected facilities and services, but also reconstruction to rebuild infrastructure and community life in a better and more sustainable manner,” he said.
Afterwards, Prabowo immediately held a disaster management meeting at the disaster response command post located at the Territorial Development Battalion in Nagekeo Regency.
Also attending the meeting were State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Deputy TNI Commander General Tandyo Budi Revita, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
