President Prabowo Subianto conducted a working visit to Miangas Island on Saturday (9/5/2026), after attending the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Philippines. This visit serves as an important moment in reinforcing Indonesia’s presence on one of its outermost islands that directly borders the Philippines. According to Kompas.com (10/5/2026), the Presidential Jet Falcon A-0801 landed smoothly at Miangas Airport at 10:45 WITA. The Head of State’s arrival was warmly welcomed by officials from the North Sulawesi Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, the Talaud Islands Regency Leadership Coordination Forum, and local customary leaders. This reception embodies the respect of the border community for the President’s presence. Administratively, Miangas Island is located in the Talaud Islands Regency, North Sulawesi Province.
