According to the Presidential Press Bureau, Prabowo made the visit on Saturday, 16 May 2026. The pilgrimage was conducted solemnly and is considered a form of state recognition for the struggles of the female labour activist who is remembered as a symbol of courage and the fight for workers’ rights in Indonesia.

Marsinah’s grave is located about one kilometre from the museum complex, which was previously inaugurated by President Prabowo. Upon arriving at the cemetery, President Prabowo walked to Marsinah’s grave accompanied by several ministers from the Merah Putih Cabinet.

In front of Marsinah’s grave, Prabowo laid flowers and prayed for a moment for the deceased Marsinah. This moment is considered a meaningful conclusion to the series of events inaugurating the Marsinah Museum, which on that day was crowded with people and workers from various regions.

In his speech during the museum inauguration ceremony, Prabowo revealed that the aspiration to designate a labour figure as a national hero came directly from Indonesian labourers. The President said that all labour organisations then submitted one name that they considered representative of the struggle of workers in Indonesia, namely Marsinah.

“They were united, all labour organisations agreed that Ibu Marsinah should be a national hero. And I am honoured to make her a national hero,” Prabowo said.

Prabowo’s visit to Marsinah’s grave is seen as a symbol of respect for the struggle of a female labour activist whose name continues to live on in the memories of many workers in Indonesia. The newly inaugurated museum and shelter are expected to not only be a memorial space, but also a reminder for young generations about the importance of fighting for justice, human rights, and support for workers.

It is known that Marsinah was awarded the title of Indonesian National Hero by Prabowo on 10 November 2025. The title was awarded to Marsinah for her struggle in fighting for the fate and rights of labourers.
