Prabowo Visits Marsinah Museum, Reflects on the Activist's Struggle and Bicycle
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto was invited by KSPI President Andi Gading to tour the Marsinah Museum in Nglundo Village, Sukomoro District, Nganjuk Regency, East Java, on Saturday, 16 May 2026.
Andi Gani explained to Prabowo that the Marsinah Museum displays the story of Marsinah’s struggle as a factory worker and contains items belonging to the late activist, such as her bicycle.
“This is her bicycle, Mr. President, which she used to ride from her boarding house in Sidoarjo to the factory. She rode a bicycle,” said Andi Gani, showing Marsinah’s bicycle to Prabowo.
The Head of State was seen listening to Andi Gani’s explanation.
Marsinah was also awarded the title of Indonesian National Hero by Prabowo Subianto on 10 November 2025.
“Her history, Mr. President, is extraordinary,” said Andi Gani.
Andi Gani also appreciated the establishment of the Labour Desk to resolve a number of problems faced by workers in Indonesia.
This desk will be under the Directorate of Specific Criminal Investigation (Dirtipidter).
“This Labour Desk continues to develop to the level of the Police Precinct, Mr. President. This is a photo of you in 2026 at Monas. You have created an extraordinary legacy for the Indonesian labour movement,” he said.
“And by saying ‘Bismillahirrahmanirrahim,’ this morning, Saturday, 16 May 2026, I, Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, hereby inaugurate the Marsinah Museum and the Rest House in Nganjuk Regency, East Java Province,” said Prabowo.
Present at the inauguration of the Marsinah Museum were the Chief of Police, General Polisi Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), General TNI Agus Subiyanto, the Chief of Presidential Staff, Dudung Abdurachman, the Head of the Government Communication Agency, Muhammad Qodari, and the Cabinet Secretary, Teddy Indra Wijaya.
