Prabowo Visits Grandfather's Grave During Banyumas Visit
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto paid a visit to the grave of his grandfather, Margono Djojohadikusumo, at the Dawuhan Cemetery Complex in Banyumas, Central Java, on Tuesday (28/4/2026). According to a statement from the Indonesian Government’s Communication Agency (Bakom), Prabowo’s arrival was greeted with enthusiasm by residents who had been waiting for him along the cemetery area. The pilgrimage procession took place solemnly as Prabowo offered prayers and scattered flowers on his grandfather’s grave. During the visit, Prabowo also approached and took the time to greet the enthusiastic residents. The Head of State shook hands with several residents and received prayers and support from the local community. “Pak Prabowo, salim, Pak. Sehat selalu, Pak!” exclaimed the enthusiastic residents, quoted from the Bakom RI press release. For information, Margono Djojohadikusumo is known as an important national figure who was also one of the founders of Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI). Prabowo’s presence to pay respects is said to be a form of honour to the family as well as appreciation for the services of the nation’s predecessors. During his visit to Banyumas today, Prabowo inspected the Environment and Education-Based Integrated Waste Processing Facility (TPST BLE). The TPST processes waste into recycled products such as plastic tiles, paving blocks, and plastic pellets.
