Prabowo Urges Universities to Collaborate Across Disciplines
President Prabowo Subianto has emphasised the vital role of universities in addressing the nation’s various problems through cross-disciplinary collaboration. This was stated during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Science, Technology, and Industry Convention National Seminar.
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi noted that the President views university leaders, such as rectors, deans, and professors, as the finest intellectual group possessed by the nation. According to him, Prabowo believes that academic strength must be mobilised to work towards a single national goal: solving various national challenges collectively.
“Deans, professors, and rectors are the smartest individuals a nation possesses. From that perspective, in order to resolve all the national problems we currently face, he wishes to invite the entire academic community to work together,” said Praselyo on Sunday (28/6).
He explained that Prabowo is encouraging every individual with their respective expertise to contribute maximally, yet remain within a large, integrated national framework. According to Prasetyo, Prabowo wants to ensure that intellectual strength does not operate in isolation, but rather complements one another to produce more effective solutions for the nation’s issues.
“Individuals who possess expertise in their respective fields, let us work together to bring out the best of our abilities in our respective areas, but within one national framework,” he said.
Prasetyo added that during the event, Prabowo also provided further direction and insights to the seminar participants, which he deemed rich with new ideas for the development of national science and technology.
President Prabowo Subianto also requested that the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Brian Yuliarto, ensure that Indonesian universities produce human resources that meet the needs of strategic industries. Furthermore, the Minister emphasised the importance of synergy between university research and industry to support the economic transformation towards ‘Indonesia Emas 2045’.
