Prabowo Urges Students at Sekolah Rakyat to Study Hard and Maintain Politeness
President Prabowo Subianto has advised students of the Sekolah Rakyat programme to study diligently to improve their families’ fortunes and to always maintain polite behaviour.
“We must work hard; everyone must work hard. Students should study well, study hard, be disciplined, and obey their teachers. Always love your parents; your parents work hard for you, and whatever their occupation, it is noble. You must uplift your parents in the future, as you are their hope,” said President Prabowo during a virtual visit to Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Pertama 17 Tabanan in Bali, monitored from Jakarta on Sunday.
He also urged students to maintain good manners, be kind to others, and refrain from disparaging others, noting that these qualities are keys to success.
During the occasion, the President highlighted the experience of a student named Gede Bagus Abimanyu, who shared his story of being a victim of bullying before attending Sekolah Rakyat.
“Not just you, I have often been mocked even until now; even the President is often mocked. It is fine, as long as your heart is steadfast and our hearts are good. If we are mocked, we respond with politeness. The more you are insulted, the more steadfast, brave, and polite you should become. Do not be disheartened by insults,” Prabowo remarked.
Furthermore, the President called for the accelerated establishment of Sekolah Rakyat in Bali, as there is currently only one location. He emphasised that the priority programme aims to reach children from vulnerable groups across all regions to ensure they can access education.
“We must increase them as quickly as possible. We will endeavour to work with regents; if necessary, the central government will seek the land. We will make it happen,” concluded President Prabowo Subianto.
