Prabowo Urges Public to Remain Calm Amid Global Crisis Turmoil

President Prabowo Subianto has called on the public to remain calm amid global geopolitical uncertainty.

He conveyed this message during a red and white cabinet meeting at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March.

“The world is full of uncertainty; we see that crises are affecting many countries. We must address these crises, but the economy must continue to function and people must remain calm,” Prabowo said.

Prabowo stated that Indonesia remains strong and possesses the necessary capacity, ensuring that the wheels of life do not stop turning.

He indicated that broadly speaking, Indonesia can still control the current situation.

“For all ministries and agencies, I hope that we carry out preparations for the Eid celebrations,” he said.

The Middle East region has become increasingly tense following combined US and Israeli military strikes against Iran since 28 February. As the conflict entered its 13th day, death toll exceeded 1,300 people.

The strikes also resulted in the death of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He has now been succeeded by his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, who is reported to have been injured in the intensive bombardment by the US and Israel.

Government media television reported that Mojtaba was “wounded in the Ramadan war,” but did not specify the nature of his injuries.

Separately, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has readied forces to strike US economic assets in Middle Eastern countries following the bombardment of banks in Tehran. The central military command Khatam Al Anbiya stated that targets include US and Israeli banks.

“The enemy has given us the freedom to target economic centres and banks linked to the United States and the Zionist regime,” stated Iran’s military, quoted by AFP on Wednesday, 11 March.
