Prabowo Urges Police, Military, and Prosecutors to Introspect
President Prabowo Subianto has called on state officials to introspect, specifically addressing the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and the Attorney General’s Office. Speaking at the inauguration of a dam in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, he urged all officials to reflect. “The problems of the Indonesian nation are also the problems of all of us, I ask that we introspect. Especially the bureaucrats. Bureaucrats introspect, we all introspect,” he said, as broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat.
Prabowo stated that all facilities and ranks received by officials come from the people’s money. He specifically addressed officials within the TNI, Polri, and the Attorney General’s Office. “Military and police officials, introspect. You belong to the people. Your stars are from the people, your shoes are from the people, your caps are from the people. Never forget that. The Attorney General’s Office is the same. You also wear stars. You also belong to the people,” he said.
After delivering this message, Prabowo said he was grateful that his administration had recorded several achievements in a short time. “Brothers and sisters, we are grateful for the achievements we have produced in a short time despite resistance, a lot of resistance from groups, especially the corruptors,” he said.
Police, military, and prosecutorial institutions have been in the spotlight in recent days. On Wednesday, 8 July 2026, investigators from the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor) and the Metro Jaya Regional Police raided Cafe de’Clan Signature in the Cipete area of South Jakarta. The French restaurant was formerly known as Gontran Cherrier, the location where Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah was tailed by members of the police’s Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88) anti-terrorism unit.
Tempo observed prosecutors and military personnel also present during the police raid on Cafe de’Clan Signature, though they were not part of the Kortastipidkor or Metro Jaya Police teams. “Yes, they went inside,” a police investigator involved in the raid said. A member of the TNI was also seen leaving the cafe, despite the police not requesting military assistance for the operation.
In the early hours of Thursday, 9 July 2026, dozens of TNI soldiers arrived at the Metro Jaya Police’s Special Criminal Investigation Directorate. According to information obtained by Tempo and confirmed by two senior police officials, the arrival was led by Brigadier General Wahyo Yuniartoto, Director of C at the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (Bais TNI). Brigadier General Cpm Anggiat Napitupulu from the Forest Area Stabilisation Task Force also reportedly arrived at the Metro Jaya Police headquarters with ten uniformed and armed TNI personnel and five plainclothes personnel from the Attorney General’s Office. However, the military denied the reports. “I have checked, the information is not true,” said Head of the TNI Information Centre, Brigadier General Muhammad Nas.
Military personnel were also found at the Kramat Pela residence of Febrie Adriansyah in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, when police raided the house on Wednesday. Soldiers in full uniform with long-barrelled weapons were seen guarding the main gate of the white house, while others rested in the front garden. Several sturdy-looking individuals in civilian clothes were also present, along with prosecutors from the Junior Attorney General’s Office for Special Crimes wearing their red corps uniforms, who were seen walking behind the fence. Muhammad Nas explained that the security was provided at the request of the Attorney General’s Office as part of inter-agency cooperation, in line with Presidential Regulation Number 66 of 2025 concerning state protection for prosecutors. “The security is not related to other developing issues,” Nas said in a written statement on Thursday, 9 July 2026, adding that the security was related to the search being conducted by police investigators.
