Prabowo Urges Ministers Not to Falter in the Face of Problems
President Prabowo Subianto has asked all ministers of the Red and White Cabinet not to falter in facing the nation’s various problems, and to remain confident because the government has resolved many strategic issues during its 18 months in office. “We are given a mandate by the people to face and solve problems. So, we must not be afraid of problems, we must not be afraid of difficulties, we must not be afraid of shortcomings,” Prabowo said while chairing the Plenary Cabinet Session at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday (20/7). The President said the entire cabinet line-up was chosen to find solutions to the various challenges facing Indonesia, ranging from limited employment opportunities, poverty, to inequality in society. According to the President, the government understands that these problems are real challenges that must be solved, not avoided. Prabowo admitted that after leading the government, he found a number of problems on a much larger scale than initially estimated, including economic leakages that had been ongoing for years. Nevertheless, the President assessed that the government has recorded progress in resolving these various problems. The Head of State said the results of this work need to be acknowledged as a form of appreciation for the efforts of the entire cabinet. Prabowo emphasised that a humble attitude does not mean the government ignores the achievements that have been made. According to the President, the Indonesian nation must be able to appreciate its own successes if it wants to gain respect from other nations. “But, if we achieve, we must admit that we achieve. No other nation will respect us if we do not respect our own nation,” said Prabowo. The President added that a great nation is one that can honour and appreciate its heroes. The mid-year Plenary Cabinet Session was held as an evaluation forum for the implementation of government programmes ahead of the President’s state address in August 2026. During the session, President Prabowo also presented a number of government achievements in the fields of food, energy, and the economy as part of the performance evaluation of the Red and White Cabinet.
