President Prabowo Subianto urged the nation to honestly assess Indonesia’s situation during his address at the Pancasila Day ceremony. He delivered the speech as reviewing officer on Monday, 1 June 2026.

The Head of State stated that Indonesia’s economy has grown over several decades, but the benefits have not been fairly experienced by all citizens.

‘For the past few decades, Indonesia’s economy has indeed grown. But has this growth been equitable, felt fairly by all Indonesian citizens?’ Prabowo said at Pancasila Field, Jalan Taman Pejambon, Jakarta, on Monday morning.

He added, ‘Let us honestly face the reality we currently confront.’

As leader of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo highlighted Indonesia’s abundant natural resources, noting it is among the world’s largest producers of critical commodities.

For example, he cited key minerals such as copper, tin, gold, and rare earth elements. ‘We are producers of palm oil, coal, and nickel,’ Prabowo said.

The former Defence Minister also stated Indonesia can produce other vital agricultural commodities, claiming the country has achieved food self-sufficiency. ‘While many nations face difficulties, we are better prepared,’ he said.

‘However, we must acknowledge that our wealth has not been fully utilised for the people’s prosperity for too long,’ Prabowo added.
