Prabowo urges DPRD chairmen across Indonesia to unite despite differing political parties
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has urged all DPRD chairmen across Indonesia to unite as fellow children of the nation in building the country, despite differences in regions, ethnicities, or political parties.
This message of unity was delivered by President Prabowo before 503 DPRD chairmen from across Indonesia at a retreat organised by the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) at the Military Academy (Akmil) in Magelang, Central Java, on Saturday.
“We come from different backgrounds, different regions, different ethnicities, different educations, different professions, and different political parties. However, as children of the nation, we remain one,” said President Prabowo to the DPRD chairmen.
During the briefing session, the President expressed his desire to “speak heart to heart” with the DPRD chairmen. Therefore, the core part of the briefing was held in closed session.
“I want to speak plainly. What I say later might not please everyone, some might feel offended, some might feel sad,” the President stated.
The National Resilience Institute of Indonesia organised the Regional Leadership Enhancement Course (KPPD), packaged in the form of a five-day retreat at the Military Academy in Magelang.
This year’s KPPD, a routine Lemhannas agenda, carries the theme “Strengthening the Role of Provincial/District/City DPRD Leaders to Support Asta Cita Towards Golden Indonesia 2045”.
“This KPPD has been running for five days, Mr President, from 15 to 19 April 2026, at the Tidar Valley, Military Academy Magelang, where national leaders are forged and trained, attended by 503 DPRD chairmen,” said Governor of Lemhannas T.B. Ace Hasan Syadzily in his report to the President at Akmil, Magelang, on Saturday.
Today’s presidential briefing for DPRD chairmen at Akmil was also attended by several state officials, including Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Cooperatives Minister Ferry Juliantono, Environment and Forestry Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, Minister of Human Settlements and Regional Infrastructure Maruarar Sirait, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana.
Furthermore, Interior Minister Tito Karnavian, Foreign Minister Sugiono, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono, Deputy Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Didit Herdiawan Ashaf, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
