Prabowo Urges Democracy Not to Be Hijacked by Money and Foreign Interests
President Prabowo Subianto has stated that the government is continuously striving to build democratic life. He emphasised that the government respects criticism, noting that criticism is important. He urged that democracy must not be hijacked by people with a lot of money. Prabowo also insisted that it must not be corrupted by vested interests. He stressed that democracy in Indonesia must embody the values of the Indonesian nation. “Differences must not become a source of division. We must always prioritise unity and harmony among us,” he added. “The National Police must be the guardians of a mature democracy, ensuring every citizen can express their opinions peacefully, while at the same time ensuring that the law is upheld and order is maintained,” he said.
