Prabowo urges coordination between Baznas and religious organisations

Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto has called for coordination between the National Zakat Board (Baznas) and financial and economic institutions from various religious organisations in Indonesia to optimise the nation’s economic potential.

“The National Zakat Board and all financial institutions and economic bodies from all religious organisations in Indonesia must be coordinated,” Prabowo said during his remarks at a full cabinet session at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday.

The President also emphasised the importance of leveraging technology in managing zakat institutions and religious economic bodies.

With technological support, economic potential is assessed to be gathered and managed more efficiently and effectively.

“We must consolidate and enhance their capabilities with all the technology that is already available so that our nation’s economic potential can be mobilised meaningfully, efficiently and effectively,” Prabowo said.

President Prabowo paid his zakat to the National Zakat Board (Baznas) at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday afternoon. The zakat payment was also attended by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, ministers from the Red and White Cabinet, and heads of the country’s high-level institutions.

After making the zakat payment, the President immediately continued his agenda by leading the full cabinet session to discuss government preparations for Eid al-Fitr 2026 and progress in disaster response in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
