Prabowo Urges Citizens to Prepare for Difficulties Arising from Middle East Conflict
President Prabowo Subianto has warned the public to prepare for potential difficulties arising from the conflict situation in the Middle East. Nevertheless, Prabowo emphasised that Indonesia possesses great strength to face such challenges.
“Due to the war in the Middle East, we must be prepared to face difficulties. But again, we are grateful that the Indonesian nation actually has strength. We have great strength,” said Prabowo whilst inaugurating 218 bridges across Indonesia, including in remote areas, in a virtual ceremony held on Monday, 9 March 2026.
Prabowo stressed the importance of managing national wealth and power more effectively so that they can be utilised optimally for the benefit of the people.
“On this occasion, I simply wish to convey that our strength, our extraordinary wealth, must be managed and controlled even better,” he said.
Prabowo emphasised that such efforts must be accompanied by a strong commitment to fighting corruption. He highlighted instances of abuse of authority resulting in the loss of state wealth.
“For this reason, I must stress again that we must fight corruption at every level. Corruption, abuse of authority, fraud, collusion with unscrupulous businessmen—these are what cause state resources to leak away,” he said.
However, he noted that such wealth should be used to strengthen national resilience and address various potential disasters.
“This is what causes much of our wealth to be lost. Wealth that we could use to face any disaster,” he said.
