Prabowo Urged to Form Independent Investigative Team for Febrie Adriansyah Case
Jakarta, VIVA – The Civil Society Anti-Corruption Coalition (KOSMAK) has urged President Prabowo Subianto to form an Independent Team of Investigators to probe alleged extortion, bribery and abuse of authority committed by former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah during his tenures as Director of Investigation at Jampidsus and as Head of the Executive Task Force for the Rectification of Forest Areas (Satgas PKH).
KOSMAK considers the step urgent because the value of the alleged extortion and bribery between 2022 and 2026 is estimated at USD 2 billion, or around Rp35.6 trillion.
Given that scale, the alleged crimes are considered extraordinary in nature and inadequately handled through existing law enforcement mechanisms.
KOSMAK argues such practices could not have been carried out alone. According to the coalition, the alleged extortion and bribery took place while Febrie held strategic positions at the Attorney General’s Office, so any involvement of other parties merits investigation.
“KOSMAK strongly suspects the practices involved other parties, including Attorney General ST Burhanuddin. The alleged extortion and bribery occurred during the 2022-2026 period, when Febrie served as Jampidsus, making it hard to imagine it happening without the knowledge of the leadership of the Attorney General’s Office,” said Sugeng after a meeting to prepare the launch and review of the book Memberantas Korupsi, Sembari Korupsi at KOSMAK’s secretariat on Jalan Pangeran Antasari, Jakarta, on Monday 27 July 2026.
On that basis, KOSMAK is also urging Attorney General ST Burhanuddin to resign. The organisation believes the Attorney General no longer has the moral legitimacy to lead the prosecution institution after his former subordinate, the ex-Jampidsus, was named a suspect in three alleged corruption cases.
In the investigation of the Jiwasraya corruption case, KOSMAK suspects Febrie Adriansyah pressured the Finance Audit Agency (BPK) of the Republic of Indonesia to alter the direction of the audit findings in calculating state losses, allegedly to protect those implicated in the Jiwasraya corruption case.
Meanwhile, to secure the prosecution of various corruption cases that had previously been the object of alleged extortion and bribery, Febrie allegedly practised holding the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Sunarto, hostage.
“Another modus operandi used by Febrie Adrianshy was the tactic of killing the dog in front of the monkey, namely selective enforcement in naming suspects, as well as alleged irregularities in the imposition of administrative fines in the mining sector in his capacity as Head of Satgas PKH, relating to PT Putra Kendari Sejahtera, PT Masempo Dalle, PT Tristaco Mineral Makmur, CV Unaaha Bakti and PT Bosowa Mining,” Sugeng continued.
