Prabowo: Universal people's defence is Indonesia's main strength

President Prabowo Subianto has emphasised that Indonesia’s defence strength fundamentally relies on a universal people’s defence system to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty and independence. “Our defence strength is the universal people’s defence. Our defence is the people’s love for their country,” Prabowo said during a national address at the 28th anniversary celebration of the National Awakening Party (PKB) at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) on Thursday evening. Prabowo delivered his views before an audience of Islamic scholars, clerics, party officials, and PKB cadres attending the anniversary event. According to Prabowo, although Indonesia prioritises peace and good relations with other countries, the government continues to build its military and defence capabilities to protect the nation’s sovereignty. “We do not wish to disturb other countries, but the entire Indonesian people will defend their sovereignty and independence,” Prabowo stated. He said the people’s love for their homeland is the primary asset in facing various threats to the nation’s sovereignty. “That is our strength. We cannot compromise on defending our future and sovereignty,” Prabowo said.
