Washington DC — President Prabowo Subianto has affirmed his administration’s commitment to combating corruption and misconduct domestically.

The statement was delivered by Prabowo at the Gala Iftar Business Summit held at the US Chamber of Commerce in Washington DC on Wednesday, 18 February 2026 local time.

“My government is committed to fighting corruption and misconduct,” Prabowo said.

Prabowo acknowledged that Indonesia still faces numerous challenges, ranging from smuggling and illegal mining to human trafficking. He went on to reveal that his government has thus far shut down 1,000 illegal mines.

“We know we have many problems. We have smuggling problems, human trafficking, illegal economic activities, illegal mining, illegal fishing, and illegal logging. I have just closed 1,000 illegal mines. They were mining in protected forests,” he said.

Beyond that, Prabowo also highlighted legal violations committed by corporations operating outside their permitted areas.

“I have also seized approximately four million hectares of land from corporations that violated laws and regulations, that were operating outside their licensed or concession areas, and so on,” Prabowo said.

“We are tackling our problems head-on. We enforce the law. We are striving to create an atmosphere of certainty in legal processes,” he continued.

Prabowo stated that these measures form part of his commitment to creating a conducive environment for business and economic activity.

“I believe all of this will contribute to a climate of social stability, political stability, and create a conducive environment for business and economic activity,” Prabowo concluded.
