Prabowo: Top IPDN Graduates from Humble Backgrounds Prove Meritocratic Selection Works

President Prabowo Subianto has asserted that the selection process at the Institute of Public Administration (IPDN), run by the Ministry of Home Affairs, has succeeded in recruiting the nation’s best sons and daughters regardless of their economic background. According to him, this is reflected in the fact that the 10 best graduates of IPDN Class XXXIII of 2026 all come from very modest families. The statement was made by the President while giving a mandate at the inauguration of 1,204 Young Civil Servants at the IPDN Jatinangor Campus, Sumedang Regency, West Java, on Wednesday. “Before taking the podium, I received a report from the Minister of Home Affairs (Tito Karnavian) that the 10 best graduates from this cohort all come from very modest families,” said President Prabowo, monitored via a Presidential Secretariat broadcast in Jakarta on Wednesday. President Prabowo assessed this fact as evidence that the selection system at IPDN has been run objectively and is capable of providing equal opportunities for all the nation’s children to excel. “This proves that the IPDN selection run by the Ministry of Home Affairs has been successful. We want the selection to be correct, the nation’s best sons and daughters, whoever’s children they are,” said President Prabowo. President Prabowo also stressed that Indonesia must be led by the best human resources born from a meritocratic system, so that every person with achievements gets an equal opportunity to develop without being limited by their family background. “If the child of a daily labourer can graduate as a civil servant, who knows, one day they might become a great leader. This proves that the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia has succeeded, that Pancasila is true. The Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and Pancasila must be a country led by those who are the best, those who excel,” said Prabowo.
