Prabowo to Visit NTT Disaster Sites Today
President Prabowo Subianto will conduct a working visit to East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on Wednesday (26/8/2026). The visit aims to see and experience first-hand the condition of the community, as well as to ensure that disaster handling and the fulfilment of community needs have been running well.
“This visit will also be part of efforts to ensure coordination between the central government, regional governments, the TNI, the National Police, and all related elements is running effectively in handling the impact of the earthquake on Flores Island, NTT,” explained Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, citing a statement on Wednesday (26/8/2026).
Prasetyo explained that from the outset the president had ordered the handling of the emergency impact of the earthquake and the distribution of aid to be carried out quickly, in a targeted manner, and evenly across all disaster-affected areas.
He cited as an example that through the Presidential Secretariat, from 15 to 24 August 2026, logistical aid and equipment had been distributed, including 204.22 tonnes of basic necessities, 27.71 tonnes of ready-to-eat food, 10.29 tonnes of mineral water, as well as medicines, tents, blankets, mattresses, communication equipment, and two sets of field hospitals.
In line with this, health service support for affected communities is also being continuously strengthened through the deployment of various disaster response health facilities.
The Indonesian Navy vessel KRI Soeharso-990 has docked at Reo Port, Manggarai Regency, and will function as a field hospital, while the hospital ship Ksatria Airlangga is already in Nangalirang Bay, East Manggarai Regency, to support community health services.
At the regional level, two field hospitals have also been operationalised, one at Ruteng Regional General Hospital in Manggarai Regency for operative services with 29 surgical procedures having been carried out cumulatively, and another at Aeramo Regional General Hospital in Nagekeo Regency to support emergency health services and surgical procedures for earthquake victims.
Furthermore, according to Prasetyo, the handling of the NTT earthquake disaster impact will not stop at the emergency response period alone.
“The government will ensure the recovery process continues in stages, not only through the rehabilitation of affected facilities and services, but also reconstruction to rebuild infrastructure and community life in a better and more sustainable manner,” said Prasetyo.
