Prabowo to Visit France Again in the Near Future
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is reportedly set to make another working visit to France in the near future.
This was revealed by Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono.
However, he has not disclosed the exact timing.
“The planned state visit by President Prabowo to France will take place in the near future,” said Sugiono during a press conference at the Presidential Staff Office in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/4/2026).
He hopes that this closeness will further strengthen relations between Indonesia and France.
“This will serve as significant capital to enhance bilateral relations between Indonesia and France,” he stated.
For context, Prabowo recently visited France and met Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris on Tuesday (14/4/2026).
According to Sugiono, that visit took place in a closed-door, one-on-one format.
In addition, the two discussed enhancing cooperation in various fields, including matters related to the defence industry.
“As we know, we obtain or purchase quite strategic defence equipment from France, and this also implies that we must improve our mastery of the technology for such equipment,” he said.
Not only that, the discussions also covered the energy sector, utilisation of critical minerals, creative economy, infrastructure, and transportation.
“The enhancement of a more comprehensive strategic partnership is currently being discussed, so it is hoped that when it happens, the scope of cooperation we undertake with France will be broader and more strategic,” he added.
