Prabowo to Travel to Russia This Week, Scheduled to Meet Putin
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto will undertake a working visit to Russia this week. During the visit, Prabowo is scheduled to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss several global strategic issues, including energy and world geopolitics.
“Departure this week. Within this week,” said Foreign Minister Sugiono at the Jakarta Convention Centre (JCC), Jakarta, on Saturday (11/4/2026).
“(Tomorrow) Yes, that’s the explanation,” Sugiono added.
Sugiono assessed that the meeting between Prabowo and Putin represents a strategic moment for Indonesia amid the current global dynamics.
Previously reported, the Russian news agency TASS covered the planned meeting between Putin and Prabowo. The Russian government is said to be preparing the agenda for discussions between the two leaders.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the preparations. However, he did not detail the timing of the meeting.
“I can confirm that preparations for that communication are indeed underway. We are preparing the talks. We will announce it in due time,” Peskov stated.
