Prabowo to Soon Fly to Russia and Meet Putin, What Will They Discuss?
President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to fly to Russia tomorrow. Prabowo will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. So, what will be discussed in that meeting?
Foreign Minister Sugiono revealed that the meeting between the two national leaders will cover several strategic issues, particularly related to global geopolitical dynamics and the energy sector.
“Departure this week, within this week,” said Sugiono at the Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta, on Saturday (11/4/2025), quoted from detikNews.
“He will meet with President Putin and they will also discuss world geopolitics and certainly the energy situation,” he added.
Sugiono stated that one of the topics to be discussed concerns energy issues, including oil. According to him, this holds strategic value for Indonesia’s national interests.
“One of the things he will discuss is that (about oil), because this is something that is very strategic for the Indonesian nation,” Sugiono concluded.
It is known that two Indonesian tankers have yet to receive permission to pass through the Strait of Hormuz due to its closure by Iran. The two ships belong to Pertamina’s subsidiary, PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), namely Pertamina Pride and Gamsunoro.
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia previously stated that the government is continuing intensive diplomatic communications with relevant authorities in Iran. “We are still communicating continuously,” Bahlil said at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources office, Jakarta, on Friday (10/4).
Bahlil also mentioned a glimmer of hope amid the two-week ceasefire between the United States (US) and Iran. He hopes the two Pertamina ships can pass through the Strait of Hormuz in the next two weeks.
