President Prabowo Subianto has stated that the government will renovate 350 to 400 hospitals across all regencies in Indonesia, with the process to be accelerated over a three-year period. He made the remarks during his address at the inauguration of the KH Muhammad Thohir Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Krui, Pesisir Barat Regency, Lampung, on Wednesday, 10 June 2026. “I have planned together with the Minister of Health and the government that in the next three years we will build—if constructing new ones is possible, we will repair and renovate 350 to 400 hospitals across all regencies in Indonesia,” Prabowo said in his speech. Additionally, Prabowo mentioned that the government also intends to modernise 10,000 community health centres (puskesmas) throughout Indonesia. “We will also repair and modernise 10,000 puskesmas across Indonesia. This has already been planned,” he explained. The government is currently running a national health service modernisation programme. According to Prabowo, 1,000 units of modern medical equipment have been distributed to all regional hospitals in 514 regencies and municipalities. Prabowo also reported that 22 regional general hospitals were built in 2025, with the government targeting the construction of another 22 RSUDs in 2026. Regarding the newly inaugurated KH Muhammad Thohir RSUD, Prabowo expressed his hope that the hospital would serve the community well. “I urge that this hospital be managed properly, maintained cleanly, and run with professional, transparent management oriented towards public service. The community must feel the tangible benefits of this hospital’s presence,” he concluded.
