Prabowo to Receive Belarusian President's Visit Today

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will receive a state visit from Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko at the Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta on Thursday, 3 July 2026. The meeting marks a new chapter in bilateral relations between the two countries, which are now directed towards strategic cooperation in the sectors of food security, energy, and the supply of fertiliser raw materials. Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono stated that President Lukashenko’s visit is a reciprocal visit following President Prabowo’s official trip to Belarus in mid-July. From the previous meeting, the two countries agreed to expand various mutually beneficial cooperation opportunities. “This morning, President Prabowo Subianto will receive a reciprocal state visit from President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus,” Sugiono told reporters at the Presidential Palace complex in Central Jakarta on Thursday. Sugiono explained that President Prabowo’s visit to Belarus was the starting point for strengthening bilateral relations, which are now entering a more concrete phase. “As we know, on 15 July, our President visited there, and from that meeting, there are many potential bilateral cooperation opportunities that we want to continue developing,” he said. This momentum has been further strengthened following the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union, where Belarus is one of the countries that has ratified the agreement. “As we also know, the EAEU CEPA has been signed, and Belarus is one of the countries that has ratified it,” Sugiono clarified. According to Sugiono, this development opens a new chapter in Indonesia-Belarus relations. During this visit, the two countries will also launch a bilateral relations roadmap covering various strategic sectors. “This shows that our bilateral relations are entering, if I may say, a new, more intensive stage, where from that, today a bilateral relations roadmap in various sectors between Indonesia and Belarus will also be launched,” he asserted. The Indonesian government places food security and energy security as the main focus of cooperation. This agenda aligns with President Prabowo’s priority programmes in strengthening national self-sufficiency in the food and energy sectors.
