Prabowo to Receive Belarusian President's Visit Today

President Prabowo Subianto will receive a state visit from Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko at the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, 3 July 2026.

The meeting marks a new chapter in bilateral relations between the two nations, which are now being directed towards strategic cooperation in sectors including food security, energy, and the supply of fertiliser raw materials.

The Indonesian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sugiono, stated that President Lukashenko’s visit is a return visit following President Prabowo’s official tour to Belarus in mid-July. Following their previous meeting, both countries agreed to expand various mutually beneficial cooperation opportunities.

“This morning, President Prabowo Subianto will receive the return state visit from President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus,” Sugiono told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, 3 July 2026.

Sugiono explained that President Prabowo’s visit to Belarus served as the starting point for strengthening bilateral relations, which are now entering a more concrete phase. “As we know, on 15 July, our President visited there, and from that meeting, there are many potentials for bilateral cooperation that we wish to continue developing,” he said.

This momentum has been further strengthened following the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), of which Belarus is a ratifying member. “As we are aware, the EAEU CEPA has been signed, and Belarus is one of the countries that has ratified it,” Sugiono clarified.

According to Sugiono, these developments open a new chapter in Indonesia-Belarus relations. During this visit, both nations will also launch a bilateral relationship roadmap covering various strategic sectors.

“This shows that our bilateral relations are entering what I might call a new, more intensive stage, where a bilateral relationship roadmap across various sectors between Indonesia and Belarus will be launched today,” he added.

The Indonesian government has placed food security and energy security as the primary focuses of this cooperation. This agenda aligns with President Prabowo’s priority programmes to strengthen national independence in the food and energy sectors.
