Prabowo to Philippines to Attend ASEAN Summit, Discuss Food and Energy Issues

JAKARTA - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, revealed that President Prabowo Subianto will discuss energy and food issues at the 48th ASEAN Summit. The ASEAN Summit 2026 is being held in Cebu, Philippines, on 7-8 May 2026. President Prabowo is scheduled to fly to the Philippines on Thursday (7/5/2026). “Tomorrow, God willing, the President will attend the ASEAN Summit in the Philippines. There are two issues: the first is food, and the second is energy,” Bahlil said when met at the Ministry of ESDM in Jakarta on Wednesday (6/4/2026). Indonesia itself, Bahlil said, is one of the countries in Southeast Asia developing a fully integrated battery ecosystem from upstream to downstream. “Coincidentally, in Southeast Asia, not all countries have a battery ecosystem factory from upstream to downstream. Indonesia is one of those developing it,” he stated. “So it’s not about cooperation for us to invest there, but they might be able to supply if we are short. If we lack raw materials, they can be supplied from anywhere. So there are no more specific technical cooperation issues, none,” Bahlil explained.
