Prabowo to Observe Takbiran in North Sumatra and Perform Eid al-Fitr Prayer in Aceh

President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to carry out a series of Eid al-Fitr activities in two different regions on the island of Sumatra. He will join Takbiran night in North Sumatra and continue with the Eid al-Fitr prayer in Aceh the following day. “Yes, that’s correct, the President will observe Takbiran night in North Sumatra and, God willing, perform the Eid al-Fitr prayer in Aceh tomorrow morning,” said Cabinet Secretariat Teddy Indra Wijaya on Friday (20/3/2026). This year marks the second Eid for Prabowo and Gibran Rakabuming as president and vice president. In 2025, Prabowo and Gibran performed the Eid al-Fitr prayer at Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta. Vice President Gibran to Perform Eid al-Fitr Prayer at Istiqlal Tomorrow. Vice President Gibran Rakabuming will perform the 1447 H Eid al-Fitr prayer at Istiqlal Mosque tomorrow. Several high-ranking state officials will also pray Eid at Istiqlal. “But certainly, tomorrow, God willing, the Vice President along with high-ranking state officials, many of whom will perform the prayer here,” said Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar at Istiqlal Mosque in Central Jakarta on Friday (20/3/2026). For information, the 1447 H Eid al-Fitr prayer at Istiqlal Mosque will begin at 07:00 WIB. The khatib on duty is the Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, Prof Noorhadi Hasan, with the theme ‘The Victory of Eid al-Fitr Sowing Goodness, Achieving Blessings’. The officials for the 1447 H Eid al-Fitr prayer at Istiqlal Mosque include Ahmad Husni Ismail as imam and Ahmad Rofiuddin Mahfudz as substitute imam. The public is urged to arrive early if they wish to join the Eid prayer at Istiqlal Mosque.
