Prabowo to NTB: Maintain Unity and Defend the People
MATARAM — President Prabowo Subianto entrusted five messages to the people and regional government of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) following the inauguration of the Meninting Dam in West Lombok Regency on Friday (10/7/2026).
NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal said the five messages were conveyed directly by the President on the way to the presidential helicopter before departing back to Jakarta.
“The President’s five major messages for NTB are to strengthen unity, repay the people’s trust through real work, ensure development delivers benefits to the community, provide leadership that sides with the people, and build clean and integrous governance,” said Iqbal in his statement in Mataram on Saturday (11/7/2026).
According to Iqbal, the President also expressed his delight at being able to visit NTB again after a long absence from the region.
“He told me directly that he was very pleased to visit NTB. He even expressed a sincere desire to help with more matters in NTB,” said Iqbal.
Iqbal assessed that these messages demonstrate that the central government’s attention to NTB does not stop at the construction of the Meninting Dam or other national strategic projects. The central government, he said, is committed to strengthening synergy with the NTB Provincial Government to accelerate development with a direct impact on public welfare.
The President’s messages are also seen as reinforcing the substance of his speech at the inauguration of the Meninting Dam. In his speech, Prabowo repeatedly emphasised the importance of safeguarding unity, repaying the people’s trust, and ensuring that every development project genuinely delivers benefits felt by the community.
The President also asked regional leaders to manage development in a trustworthy manner and to ensure that water from the Meninting Dam flows all the way to farmland. This was considered important for strengthening the agricultural sector and food security in NTB.
Iqbal said the President’s visit to NTB was not merely an infrastructure inauguration event. It also served as an affirmation of the direction of regional development oriented towards food security, community welfare, and good governance.
