Prabowo to New Officers: Remember, Your Position Is Only Entrusted!

President Prabowo Subianto delivered a strong moral message to 1,177 Candidate Junior Officers (Capaja) of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri) who were officially commissioned during the 2026 Officer Pledge Ceremony (Praspa). In front of the young officers, Prabowo reminded them that every facility they enjoy comes from the people, so service to the community must be the primary compass in carrying out state duties. The message was conveyed by Prabowo while leading the Praspa Ceremony in the courtyard of the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, 22 July 2026. In his directive, Prabowo explained that an officer must not forget their origins and responsibilities to society. According to him, the education, equipment, and income received by soldiers and police personnel are a mandate financed by the people. “Always remember, you were born from the people, educated with the people’s money. The clothes you wear from head to toe are from the people,” he stated. “Your food is from the people, your salary is from the people. Always serve the people. Be a protector, a guardian, and a defender of the people,” Prabowo continued. Prabowo stressed that the public does not demand state officials to be flawless. What the people expect, according to him, is honesty, courage, justice, and a tangible presence when the community faces problems. “The people do not demand that you be perfect. The people demand that you be honest, brave, just, and always appear and be present when needed,” he said. Prabowo also reminded the officers not to be complacent about their positions or ranks. According to him, a position is merely a temporary trust, while service to the nation will be a legacy remembered throughout history. “Remember, a position is only entrusted. Rank will pass. What history remembers is your service to the nation and state,” he asserted. In addition to delivering a message to the new officers, President Prabowo paid tribute to the parents and families who had supported their sons and daughters until they successfully attained their first officer rank. He considered this success inseparable from the prayers, sacrifices, and steadfastness of families who allowed their children to serve the country. “To the parents and families, I express my respect and gratitude on behalf of the nation and the people of Indonesia. Thank you for allowing your sons and daughters to belong to the nation and the people,” he explained.
