Prabowo to Meet Macron as Fadli Zon Notes Strong Economic Ties

Indonesian Culture Minister Fadli Zon commented on President Prabowo Subianto’s upcoming state visit to France to meet President Emmanuel Macron. Zon stated that Indonesia-France economic relations are strong and mutually beneficial.

“I believe our economic relations are good, and they are mutually beneficial, very strong across various fields. Our strategic partnerships with all countries are excellent,” Zon said after performing the Eid al-Adha prayer at Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta on Wednesday, 27 May 2026.

The Gerindra politician noted that last year, President Prabowo celebrated Eid al-Adha in Indonesia, but this year’s visit coincides with a state visit.

“Last year it was here, but this year it coincides with a state visit. That means we can perform the Eid prayer anywhere, not just here. The President conducted the Eid al-Adha prayer in France,” Zon explained.

Zon also spoke about the significance of Eid al-Adha as a symbol of social solidarity. He mentioned tolerance.

“Eid al-Adha should be understood as an act of obedience to Allah’s commands, along with the spirit of sacrifice, sincerity, social solidarity, tolerance, and togetherness, especially when facing any situation,” Zon said.

He added that this year’s Eid al-Adha is closely related to current geopolitical conditions, and he hopes the spirit of sacrifice will enhance solidarity amid challenges.

“I think this is very relevant, closely tied to the current geopolitical situation. Hopefully, our spirit of social solidarity and sacrifice for shared goals can be realised with the current spirit,” Zon stated.
